ABSTRACT
Con este artículo se pretende rescatar parte de la fructífera y larga vida del Dr. Juan Amado Díaz Sarduy, profesor titular y de mérito, además de doctor honoris causa de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Santiago de Cuba. El texto es un tributo a tan insigne médico, al revolucionario íntegro y verdadero mentor de la Imagenología en esta provincia. Su reciente fallecimiento, el 28 de marzo de 2022, deja un profundo sentimiento de tristeza en quienes le conocieron; pero quedan su ejemplo, siempre en la primera fila de todas las batallas, y los recuerdos imperecederos de su nobleza espiritual, de la fidelidad a sus amigos y el amor a su familia.
With this work it is hoped to rescue part of Dr. Juan Amado Díaz Sarduy fruitful and long life, associate and merit professor, besides his honorary doctorate degree of the University of Medical Sciences in Santiago de Cuba. The text is a tribute to such famous doctor, upright revolutionary and true mentor of Imaging in this province. His recent death, on March 28, 2022, leaves a deep feeling of sadness in those that knew him; but his example remains, always in the first line of all battles, and the everlasting memories of his spiritual nobility, fidelity to his friends and love to his family.

Con este artículo se desea honrar la memoria de la Lic. María Elena Jiménez Arias, fundadora del Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de Santiago de Cuba y artífice de la revista Medisan, quien, desde un profundo conocimiento de la lengua española y el amor por su profesión, se dedicó a revisar y mejorar estilísticamente documentos biomédicos de muy variada índole durante cuatro décadas. Asimismo, fue loable su interés y placer en enseñar a redactar y publicar sobre medicina y otras ciencias afines, lo cual le concedió un meritorio lugar en la comunidad de profesionales de la salud de esta provincia y en el grupo de editores científicos de toda Cuba.
With this work it is wanted to honor the memory of the Lic. María Elena Jiménez Arias, founder of the Information Provincial Center of Medical Sciences from Santiago de Cuba and author of Medisan magazine, who, from a deep knowledge of the Spanish language and the love for her profession, devoted her life to stylistically revise and improve biomedical documents of very varied nature during four decades. Also, her interest and pleasure in teaching how to edit and publish on medicine and other similar sciences was commendable, that granted her a meritorious place in the community of health professionals from this province and in the group of scientific editors of all Cuba.

Con este artículo se buscó ampliar los datos biográficos del eminente científico cubano Antonio María Béguez César y divulgar aspectos poco conocidos de su prolífica existencia. Para ello se consultaron los archivos personales de la familia Béguez López y el índice de autores y materias del Boletín de la Sociedad Cubana de Pediatría y de la Revista Cubana de Pediatría, donde se consigna su bibliografía activa; además, se analizaron documentos de la época y se consideraron los testimonios de familiares, colegas y amigos del ilustre pediatra santiaguero. El trabajo forma parte del proyecto investigativo "Estrategia para incrementar la visibilidad del hallazgo científico del pediatra Dr. Antonio María Béguez César", que revela al descubridor de la "neutropenia crónica maligna familiar con granulaciones atípicas de los leucocitos", entidad clínica inscrita entre los diez hitos de la inmunología cubana, que ha sido erróneamente divulgada en el mundo científico-médico como síndrome de Chédiak-Higashi.
This work aimed at widen the biographical data of the eminent Cuban scientist Antonio María Béguez César and to spread not very well-known aspects of his prolific existence. The personal files of Béguez López family and the index of authors and matters of the Pediatrics Cuban Society Bulletin and the Pediatrics Cuban Magazine were consulted, where his active bibliography is consigned; also, documents of that time were analyzed and testimonies of family, colleagues and friends of the distinguished pediatrician from Santiago were considered. The work is part of the investigative project "Strategy to increase the visibility of the pediatrician Dr. Antonio María Béguez César scientific finding" that reveals the discoverer of "the family malignant chronic neutropenia with atypical granulations of the leukocytic cells", clinical entity inscribed among the ten landmarks of the Cuban immunology that has been erroneously spread in the scientific-medical world as Chediak-Higashi syndrome.

En diciembre de 1943, el Dr. Antonio María Béguez César detalló en el Boletín de la Sociedad Cubana de Pediatría los aspectos clínicos y hematológicos de una rara afección que padecieron tres niños de una familia santiaguera, quienes fallecieron en sus primeros años de vida. No había informes sobre hallazgos similares en la bibliografía médica, por lo cual se consideró la primera descripción de una enfermedad denominada por él como neutropenia crónica maligna familiar con granulaciones atípicas de los leucocitos, que aún hoy suele divulgarse erróneamente como síndrome de Chediak-Higashi y no como síndrome de Béguez-Steinbrinck-Higashi. Esta enfermedad es una inmunodeficiencia primaria causada por mutaciones en el gen regulador de la función lisosomal, capaz de alterar la formación del fagolisosoma en el neutrófilo y determinar la presencia de gránulos secretores gigantes en su interior, asociadas a un predominio de infecciones recurrentes generadas por bacterias piógenas. On December 1943, Dr. Antonio María Béguez César detailed in the Journal of the Cuban Pediatric Society the clinical and hematologic aspects of a rare disorder suffered by three children from a family in the locality, who expired during the first years of their lives in Santiago de Cuba. At that moment there was no report about similar findings in the medical literature, therefore it is considered the first description of a disease denominated by him as familial malignant chronic neutropenia with atypical granulations of leucocytes, misleadingly revealed as Chediak-Higashi syndrome instead of Béguez-Steinbrinck-Higashi syndrome. This disease consists of a primary immunodeficiency induced by mutations in the regulator gen of the lysosomal function, which is able to alter the formation of phagolysosoma in the neutrophil and determine the presence of giant secretor granules associated with the predominance of recurrent infections provoked by pyogen bacteria. Here, a brief history of it's discovery as well as an updating of it's physiopathology are carried out(AU)

In this work some aspects of the purified life history of the Cuban doctor Esteban Roberto Regalado García are mentioned, who on November 27th, 1960 was designated by the students graduated from the third course of Medicine, after January 1st, 1959, to present the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, in a ceremony that took place in the Havana University steps; with a copy of the communication known as Declaration of principles; a document with present force and future presage.

As part of the activities undertaken in the XIX International Book Fair in Santiago de Cuba, the first meeting called Talking to the Authors Dr Antonio María Béguez Cesar in memoriam took place in Heredia theater, attended by writers of the Repertoire Santiago health professionals in Cuban and foreign publishing houses, as well as other personalities of the scientific community in the territory and the Editorial Oriente, some of whom were honored by their commendable work in defense of truthfulness and spread of medical sciences and related branches.

Se presenta el diseño del Boletín informativo Anaquel, publicación bimensual de la Biblioteca Médica Provincial de Santiago de Cuba, como una herramienta necesaria para divulgar los documentos recibidos en esta, así como los servicios tradicionales que en ella se brindan y otros que se han incorporado sobre la base de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y el conocimiento, entre los cuales figuran el servicio SCAD y SeCimed. Se recomienda que todas las bibliotecas de la red que cuenten con técnicas y equipos de avanzada, confeccionen su boletín informativo, pues esto ayudaría a la diseminación virtual de sus últimas adquisiciones.
The design of the Bulletin Anaquel, a bimonthly publication of the Provincial Medical Library of Santiago de Cuba, is showed as a necessary tool to spread documents received as well as traditional services offered in this library, and other services that have been incorporated on the basis of the new information technologies and knowledge, among which are the SCAD and SeCimed services. It is recommended that all the libraries of the net that have advanced techniques and equipment produce their own bulletin, because this would contribute to the virtual dissemination of their most recent acquisitions.
